Sample Analysis

Fugro Environmental are proud to be able to offer a vast array of sediment, water and air contaminant analysis.  The majority of analyses can be conducted using Fugro Operating Companies (OPCO’s) which allows a greater degree of control over the final stages of an environmental project.

There are two main types of environmental analyses, these are:

Physico-chemical analysis
Furgo (ERT) operate a specialist hydrocarbon analysis laboratory and Fugro Alluvial Offshore Ltd (FAOL) provide sophisticated granulometric analysis.  Various other analyses are performed on sediment and water samples including heavy metals, organics, nutrients and plankton.

Macrofaunal analysis
Macrofaunal work is carried out at Fugro Environmental’s in-house laboratory under strict HSE guidelines.  Ergonomic stereo and high-power microscopes are used for the identification of marine macrofauna with an extensive reference collection available from numerous worldwide environmental surveys.  Fugro environmental are an active member of the National Marine Biological Analytical Quality Control (NMBAQC) scheme.  The macrofauna laboratory is also capable of undertaking epibenthic trawl sample and fish identification in addition to biomass calculations.

With extensive access to specialist laboratories around the world, all accredited to UKAS or similar standards, Fugro Environmental are well placed to deliver consistently high quality analyses on time.
