A new-build ROV, Survey and Construction Support Vessel
Aberdeen, UK, 12th May 2006
Fugro Survey Ltd
in Aberdeen has signed a long-term charter agreement with
E.Forland Ship
owners for a new-build ROV, Survey and Construction Support Vessel to be named the Fugro Saltire.
Following the recent commitment to build eight FCV3000 ROVs, this vessel confirms Fugro’s
intent to grow its position in the ROV and subsea support industry. The vessel is designed
to operate worldwide form Arctic to tropical conditions, and will meet the highest safety
and environmental standards.
Operated by Fugro Survey Limited from its Aberdeen base, the Fugro Saltire will be offered
globally through Fugro’s worldwide network of operating companies.
The vessel has an overall length of 111 metres and a beam of 24 metres. It will be equipped
with a 150 tonne heave compensated crane for operations in water depths down to 3,000m, and
a moon-pool for module handling. Deck space will measure over 1,100 m2 with 10t/m˛ loading
in all areas
Fugro Saltire will be equipped with a minimum of two of Fugro’s next generation FCV3000 ROVs
with state of the art positioning, construction support, and inspection survey technology.
Launched via two over-side LARS from the central vessel hanger area, the ROV systems will
have control consoles integrated alongside the vessels survey on-line systems.
The ROV systems will be central to the vessels functionality and capability.
The vessel will enhance Fugro’s ROVSV fleet, allowing the provision of a wider range of subsea
construction support, inspection, repair, maintenance and intervention services to its clients,
and is due for delivery in Q1 2008.
It’s design and arrangements reflect the needs of a market where projects are increasingly
requiring scalability, flexibility, reliability and performance, increased capacity in terms
of deck, crane capacity, accommodation size and quality, and true across-the-broad subsea support
functionality.
Under-deck chemical tanks have been integrated to the vessel’s design to meet the increasing
requirement for storage and discharge capability.
The vessel will fulfill all known future demands for safety, security and environmental
requirements and the design is optimised for low noise, seaworthiness and operational
conditions.
Further, the vessel is designed for high comfort and well-being for the crew; possess an
amphitheatre for more than 50 people, a training and fitness centre, an Internet café,
conference rooms, and is fully air-conditioned throughout. There will be bed-space for 105
persons.
