Detailed surveys of corridors for oil and gas pipelines, flowlines and umbilical cables allow
engineers to design cost-efficient, practical and safe routes for their installations.
Route surveys examine the topography of the seafloor for engineers to identify optimum routes and
laybarge anchoring zones. Wrecks, man-made artefacts, debris and dumping grounds are identified to
ensure that pipes and cables are not laid in potentially hazardous areas. Sampling systems, Cone
Penetrometer Testing (CPT) and high-resolution geophysical systems provide information of the structure
of the seafloor and for burial and trenching evaluation.
Over the years Fugro Survey Limited has taken part in several large cable and pipeline route surveys.
This is an area in which we are expanding rapidly. Our reference list contains major clients in our
region, both within telecom and power cable projects. Onboard processing and mapping as well as final
digital and paper end products are delivered. We are also in the phase of interfacing to GIS and can
provide GIS solutions for cable and pipeline projects.
